Understanding Feng Shui Basics and Balance

Feng Shui Basics

You can see the lamp and chair is in balance

Feng Shui creates balance in a room by placing furniture in certain areas to apply balance and harmony within a space.  The balance makes the space feel more open and free.

The rocks are equally placed around large rock plus one on top in the center

1.  Creating Balance with furniture- Make sure that if you put a couch on one side of the room you need to also put and heavy piece of furniture or something of equal shape or length parallel to it to create balance.  You can put maybe an entertainment center or television parallel to couch with maybe another chair or love seat.

One Big couch=2 smaller chairs and small table

2. Creating Balance with Pictures or Decor-  You must also balance out pictures.  You basically have four walls the wall directly in front it is the wall you need to mirror and balance out.
If you have two light pictures hanging you just put two pictures hanging on parallel wall.  It would create a great open relaxed space. Feng Shui is used by the Chinese to live in harmony with the natural world around you.  It creates a dynamic for balanced and harmonious Chi.

One Big Thick Rock=3 Flatter Rocks

3. Create Balance on your counters-  The way you place things on your dressers or counters also matter.  You need to place things with intended balance in order to feng shui the room correctly.  This will leave the feeling of open, clear space.

You may use a Rainbow Prism of Colors

The Basic Tools of Feng Shui

A variety of tools are available to the Feng Shui practitioner, and any one may be more effective than another for a particular situation. The following tools are especially helpful to unblock energy and balance a home or business:
  • Color adds emotional, physiological, and cultural content to our lives. We associate certain things with color, such as holidays, cultural events, and emotions. In Feng Shui, color is primarily used to represent and balance the Five Elements.
  • Sound is used to connect us to others in our environment. Music is a powerful way to uplift the chi in any environment and can sooth stressful home or office situations.
  • Lighting is a simple way to bring more chi into your environment, especially full-spectrum light bulbs that simulate natural light. Fireplaces are also a source of light.
  • Art can enhance the chi, whether it is a painting, sculpture, or textile. The selection and placement of art depends on the area of the bagua you need to activate. Art should reflect positive images and feelings.
  • Growing Things like healthy plants and flowers connect you with the natural world. They can be chosen for a specific shape and color to correspond to a particular element and area of the bagua. Silk plants can be used where light is too limited to grow healthy plants.
  • Water Features such as fountains and aquariums stimulate the movement of chi in and around your home or business.
  • Wind Sensitive Objects such as wind chimes, mobiles, whirligigs, banners, flags, and weather vanes attract the chi into your environment.
  • Mirrors & Crystals can be used when there are structural flaws or where there is no space for any other "cure."

World Peace

It's crazy how some people talk about world peace. Looking at all our nuclear problems today we start to wonder if these words like world peace are even possible. You know what there are also alot of things happening these days that keeps you thinking oh maybe world peace can happen. It's the Budda's I see displayed in American homes and the coexist bumper stickers that seems to signaling some sort of quiet revolution is happening which is hinting world peace, nuclear war or something else like tech-heaven.

One thing I do know it is sometimes hard for a husband and wife to get along so imagine what does it take for all of us to get along. It maybe be something big or it may be a bunch of small progress that will lead us down that road. Even if we don't see it in our lifetime, peace in your home or house really makes a world of a difference.
